Design

Good design doesn't date.

Designs and art forms have always been central to me. The most remarkable feature of any design often happens to be the philosophy it comes from.

Basically, we shape the premise, and eventually the space within, shapes us — keeping three eternal space design elements in line: harmony, rhythm and balance.

Hobbies & obsessions.

Travel & stones.

The idea and urge to collect stones happened in college days, around the 80s — once I started roaming around places, especially historical ones. Holding a stone in my hand is like having a piece of history in my palms. Ordinary stones having extraordinary tales — each one different and unique, having individual character, weight, scars and story imbibed.

Wall of fame.

Sketching ranges back to school days — offering self-made cards to friends was a routine joy. I own a "wall of fame" at my residence with such memorabilia.

Astronomy & photography.

Talks with celestial bodies — an unexplainable experience, beyond words, a language of silence. Photography, especially black and white, excites me. It's not colourless, it's beyond and ageless. It all started in college days around the 80s with a common film camera. Nature photography is my favourite subject — the same place and angle shows vividness if snapped in different seasons and times.

Photography even adds to your imagination prowess while designing and visualising interior themes — how to highlight the focal point of the entire design, which colours and hues address the elements, and so on.

Writing, rescue & recognition.

Writing is a holy practice. If you want to write, you have to read. Penning down thoughts and emotions since college days is like documentation of the same. The ink became more lucid since 2010, when my daughter was trapped in the Kinnaur–Spiti region. I did what a father can do and beyond — rescued her in the CM's personal chopper. The article written on that incident won the best amongst 397 other entries and grabbed a prize cheque of ₹51,000.

Something sincerely and literally out of the world: my English haiku was selected, engraved on a real gold disk installed in a spaceship called MAVEN, and is lying on the soil of planet Mars. I was felicitated by NASA with a certificate for the same.
